Smart charge schedules can be customised with multiple options such as off-peak timing, cost, or energy consumption. Depending on your chosen setting, charging sessions might be initiated outside the off-peak window. For instance, if the target value set extends beyond the designated off-peak hours, the smart charge may schedule sessions to start earlier.
To effectively utilise off-peak charging, always set a realistic target for the amount of energy to be consumed. The Electric Miles system does not monitor the live state of your battery; instead, it calculates the charging schedule based on your specified target. For example, if your goal is to consume 40 kWh and your charger outputs 7.2 kWh, the app will plan for a charging session approximately 6 hours long. However, if your off-peak window is shorter than 6 hours, the app will adjust the schedule to start before the off-peak period and aim to use the full duration of it. Be aware that your battery's capacity may not accommodate a full 40 kWh charge, potentially causing the charging to halt before the off-peak period concludes. The charger's status in the app will change to 'Suspended EV', indicating that the car cannot accept more charge.
